Born Ebenezer Remilekun Aremu Olasupo Fabiyi on the 3rd of April, 1942, Chief Commander Ebenezer OBEY as fondly called turned 80 on this day; 3rd of April 2022.
 
Evangelist Ebenezer OBEY is of the Owu sub group of the Egbas. He was born in Idogo, Ogun State.

Evangelist Ebenezer OBEY is a Nigerian musician, songwriter,  band leader and public figure.

Evangelist Ebenezer OBEY climbed up the ladder and became successful in his chosen  career because of his kind of juju music. His songs are evergreen because of the various lessons of life in the music. His baritone voice coupled with excellent delivery endeared listeners to his music. No doubt, lessons in his music are second to none and very useful in this age for counselling and correction towards building a good society. 

In his school days, he got his name OBEY from his habit during his duties as the class captain.  He was known for saying, 'OBEY first.

Evangelist Ebenezer OBEY began his musical training as a member of the school band at Methodist Primary School, Idogo. He also joined the Idogo Boys and Girls club and later became the band leader. He lead this group for many years. 

In 1957, he formed his own band and named it "Ifelode Mambo Orchestra" and later changed it to "Royal Mambo Orchestra". All along, he learnt some musical instruments like guitar and ogidigbo which contributed majorly to his speedy acceptance and growth in the industry. He also met several people that impacted his musical career positively. 

He met with the late Fatai Rolling Dollar and after six years tutelage under him, he left to form his own band which he named the International Brothers. 

OBEY began to improve on his music with Yoruba percussion style.  He also added more drum kits, talking drums etc. His creativity using Yoruba axioms  into dance floor composition endeared him to many fans. His effortless praise singing abilities made many celebrities, captain of industry and business tycoons fall for his brand of juju music.

Right from the start,  Obey's songs had always have Christian background. This helped him greatly when he retired into Nigerian gospel music industry. 

OBEY married Mrs Julianah Olaide Olufade in 1963. His wife died at Lagos state University Teaching Hospital on 23rd August,  2011 aged 67. They have children and grand children.
