The German government through the German Federal Criminal Police Agency (BKA) yesterday donated 10 brand new Toyota Hiace buses to five Nigerian federal law enforcement agencies.
The BKA is a German federal law enforcement agency responsible for fighting insurgency internationally, organised drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime and crimes, including kidnapping and sea piracy.
The presentation, which was held at Germaine Auto Center, Lekki, Lagos, saw the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lagos, Dr. Bernd von Muenchow-Pohl, handing over the 10 vehicles to the security agencies.
Enforcement agencies who benefited include Department of State Services, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Economic and Financial Crime Commission, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and Nigerian Police Force.
Director of DSS in Lagos, Mr Egbunu J. Yusuf; EFCc Deputy Zonal Commander, Emeka OOkonj; Lagos Zonal Head, NAPTIP, Ganiyu Aganran; DCGN, NDLEA, Adeyemi Adeofe; and DCP for NPF Tunji Disu, were present and received the buses on behalf their agencies.
The BKA is said to have long standing collaborations with Nigerian law enforcement agencies, which is not limited to operative measures, but also covers trainings, technical support and supply of equipment.
